Functional Impairment

“L’after Débauche” 

A testimony of a transformative chapter provoked by different conditioning of the mind, body, and soul whether voluntary or imposed. 

I’ve completed this series of works after going back to my home country. I started reflecting on the disparities between two societies (Beirut and New York) that are worlds apart and yet cope with change and trauma in a similar way. 

The struggles can leave you impaired.

And yet by reflecting on my abilities to interact, adapt, concentrate and judge, I noticed that these impairments are means to survival. 

Through my works, I aim to highlight the similarities among individuals, beyond inherited constraints, that characterize humanity in these inhumane times. 

These alleged impairments allowed me to experience the ordinary through a foreign lens.
